Fortnight for Freedom
The US Catholic Bishops have called for two weeks of prayer for religious liberty from June 21 to July 4. In our local area, we are having Jordan Lorence come to La Crosse on Tuesday, July 1. Mr. Lorence is the attorney who argued the supreme court case Town of Greece v. Galloway regarding the ability for the Town of Greece, NY, to open their meetings with prayer. Click here to view an article about this case, and the Alliance Defending Freedom has a good summary.
Keynote by Jordan Lorence, Senior Counsel for Alliance Defending Freedom. After opening remarks by Bishop Callahan, Mr. Lorence will bring us up to date on the challenges facing religious freedom, especially Christian service organizations, what he and others have been doing to defend it all the way to the Supreme Court, and what we can all do. The evening will conclude with an expert roundtable discussion addressing questions from the audience. Admission is free.
Location: UW-La Crosse, Centennial Hall, Room 1309 (1st floor Auditorium). Centennial Hall is just east of the UWL Center for the Arts, which is on 15th and Vine St. N. There is free parking in the lot across Vine St. from the Center for the Arts.
