25th Annual Greater La Crosse Area Mayoral Prayer Breakfast – Facebook Live Event

The Mayoral Prayer Breakfast is an event held each year in conjunction with the National Day of Prayer (1st Thursday in May). The Mayoral Prayer Breakfast Committee, a group of Christian ministers, businessmen, and military personnel, meets regularly throughout the year to plan this event and pray for our leaders. They also work together with numerous local sponsors to host the event during which prayers are offered for our communities’ leaders and those in authority as well as for our state, our nation, and the world.
This annual event includes a time of prayer for our community leaders and a keynote speaker who shares how they have overcome hardship and how prayer is important to their life.
The Mayoral Prayer Breakfast is funded solely by donations and no taxpayer dollars are utilized to support this event.
Special Guest Speaker: Dr. Stephen Mansfield
Dr. Stephen Mansfield is a New York Times bestselling author, entrepreneur, and a popular speaker who leads a speaker training firm based in Washington, D.C. He pastored for 22 years, after which he began his formal writing career.
He first rose to global attention with his groundbreaking book, The Faith of George W. Bush, an international bestseller, in addition to The Faith of Barack Obama another international bestseller. He has written celebrated biographies of Booker T. Washington, George Whitefield, Winston Churchill, Pope Benedict XVI, and Abraham Lincoln, among others. Publishers Weekly described his book, Killing Jesus, as “masterful.”
Dr. Mansfield’s humorous but fiery Mansfield’s Book of Manly Men has inspired men’s events around the world. His more recent book The Miracle of the Kurds was selected as “Book of the Year” by Rudaw, the leading Kurdish news service. As a result of this book, he has become a leading voice in support of the Kurds worldwide.
Dr. Mansfield grew up as the son of a US Army officer and spent many formative years living in Berlin during the dark days of the Cold War. Returning to the US, he attended college. He also began acquiring a reputation as a speaker of both depth and humor. During this season of his life, he wrote books, hosted a radio show, spoke widely, and led a number of social-service organizations.
He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Philosophy from Oral Roberts University in 1981, a Master’s Degree in History and Public Policy from Abilene Christian University, and a Doctorate Degree in History and Literature from Whitefield Theological Seminary in 1996.
In addition to his work as an author and speaker, Dr. Mansfield is the founder of The Mansfield Group, a consulting firm based in Washington, DC, and Chartwell Literary Group, a firm that manages and creates literary projects. He hosts two weekly podcasts, one on current affairs and one designed specifically for men.
He is married to songwriter and producer Beverly Darnall Mansfield. They make their home in both Nashville, Tennessee, and Washington, D.C.
