20th Annual Mayoral Prayer Breakfast – May 5, 2016 at the Radisson Center, La Crosse, WI
May 5, 2016 @ 7:25 am - 8:45 am
The Mayoral Prayer Breakfast is an event held each year in conjunction with the National Day of Prayer (1st Thursday in May). The Mayoral Prayer Breakfast Committee, a group of Christian ministers, businessmen, and military person, meet regularly throughout the year to plan this event and pray for our leaders. They also work together with numerous local sponsors to host the event during which prayers are offered for our communities’ leader and those in authority as well as for our state, our nation, and the world.
This annual event includes breakfast, a time of prayer for our community leaders, and a keynote speaker who shares how they have overcome hardship and how prayer is important to their life.
The Mayoral Prayer Breakfast is funded solely by donations and no taxpayer dollars are utilized to support this event.
Special Guest Speaker: Mr. Don Weber
The 2016 Mayoral Prayer Breakfast Guest Speaker is Mr. Don Weber. Mr. Weber is an entrepreneur, philanthropist and exemplary supporter of our military – but he will tell you that he is simply a Wisconsin farm boy and Marine. Weber’s goal has always been threefold: to create local jobs, support Service members and strengthen our community.
Weber is the founder and Chairman of LHI, a La Crosse-based health care innovator that has grown to more than 1,200 employees in 15 years. Under Weber’s leadership, LHI nurtures a company culture of community service, and has become a major sponsor and invaluable volunteer source for numerous local causes. LHI is the presenting sponsor of Freedom Fest, an event Weber founded which has raised more that $450,000 for Veterans’ causes, including college scholarships and the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse Veterans Hall of Honor. LHI employees have supported countless donation drives within the community and in addition, LHI is proud to be the top donor to the Great Rivers United Way several years running.
Over the past two decades he has founded a number of additional businesses that have helped grow the economic base in downtown La Crosse and Western Wisconsin as a whole, including a $68 million dollar housing, retail and office development; a boutique hotel in a revitalized historic candy factory; an innovative corporate wellness company; a fine dining restaurant and much more. Community service has long been a part of Weber’s life; he currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Viterbo University as well as the Board for the La Crosse Area Family YMCA and UW-L Foundation.
Weber is a Marine Vietnam War combat Veteran, and for his distinguished service he has received many awards, among them the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars
